Star dropped back with Rain. He chuckled under his breath at Rain. "I think he just a colt that never knew life could get that bad" he said to Rain. He found it kinda funny the way Culver scolded to colt.
Dancer flicked her ears. She didn't mind the colt talking she just wished he would do it so no one else could hear it. "Culver! Shut him up!" She snapped back at them. Culver nodded and glanced at the colt. The colt nodded and dropped his head a little scared of Dancer, hed seen the rage pour out of her when she was face to face with jackal and he would do anything to stay out of her cross fire.

Rain calmed down a little when Star dropped back with her. She snorted. "Well life can be that bad. I know-" She stopped midsentence. She dropped her head and closed her eyes before continuing. "Knew, a horse with a way worse past. It was horrible." Rain was the only one that knew abou that horse's past. She had never told anyome about that horse and she probably never would. For that horse and her own good, she had to lie through her teeth. Alot. She hated it, especially because Jackal was so right about her. She hated him knowing, but not even her own herd knowing.
Cloud remained calm while two of the foals jumped at Dancer's voice and came closer to Cloud. Clou dturned to them. "Don't be afraid of her. She is going through something rough, and yet is still the best leader our herd has ever had," she murmured to them. They looked to Cloud curiously but relaxed a little anyways.

Star sighed and looked up when his sister snapped. He knew what she was doing she was trying to stay out ear shot of any other stallion that might cause trouble for the herd. They were almost on the border to Jackal's herd and she wanted them be quiet till they were safely away from the border. Dancer looked around. "Every one move as silently as you can and no talking." She only loud enough so that herd could hear her and they crept further into valley soon they would reach the winter valley and dens.
Culver looked everyone they all knew where they were the only place they could be that Dancer would tell them to be quiet and stop talking. The edge of their territory line.

Rain shut up and snapped her head up when she smelled the scent in the air. It was Jackal's, and she didn't want another replay of today.
Cloud shushed the foal up and quieted up herself, looking straight fowrward. The foals did the same.
Fire woke up slowly, cringing a little. He slowly stood up, trying not to disturb Starry. He walked a few steps, but tje pain in his neck had gotten a hell of alot worse. He layed on the ground again, this time on his side, and waited there. For what, he didn't know, but something had to happen. He kind of now wished that Starry would wake up, just so he could have a little comapny, which he usually never had.
(Sorry, I was rushing)

(its fine)
Star remained silent next to Rain he heard rustling and nudged Rain and then raised his head to listen. It was heavy hooves pounding the dirt then wet leaves and then wet grass. Star's nostrils flared with the scent of Jackal but something else too. Something not horse, but it wasn't human either. "Jackal's back. But something else is here too... Its moving around use fast just like Jackal" Star whispered to Rain.
Jackal saw Dancer's herd up head. He stopped in the shadows where he would go unnoticed Starry and Fire were gone. "Damn it" he cursed under his breath taking off towards where he knew Starry would go...
Starry whipped her head up, even sleep she knew a danger when she smelled it. She looked around worried and then found Fire, she sighed in relief. She didn't speak just walked to the door and looked out, again her nostrils flared with the scent of a predator. "Somethings here" she said back up with worry in her voice, she stood next to Fire. She smelled the ripe scent of blood that made her sick. And then the other scent made perfect sense to her. "umm... Fire... Your not gonna like this much but theres a cougar out there some where close" she said, saying each word slowly and longing them out slightly its the only way she could talk when she was nervous. She may be able to hold her own in a fight but not when it came to couagers....

Rain stopped for a moment. She took in the scent as best as she could. "No," was all she could say. She turned to Star. "If anything does decide to come for us, please don't try to fight it. Just don't," she said pretty much begging Star. She had only come close to a cougar once, and only narrowly escaped it. It was once when she was alone, or atleast she thought she was. She shook her head, snapping back to reality. "The best thing we can do is be quiet and keep moving on," Rain said to Star. She slowly started walking again, and soon matched the pace of the rest of the herd. She was sure some of the other horses had smelled it, but she was also almost sure that the cougar would go for easier prey. Rain thought for a moment, and then her eyes widened a bit. Like two tired and weak young horses. Starry and Fire.
Fire shot up and looked to Starry. "Damn it!" he hissed under his breath. He nudged Starry. "The only thing we can do for now is hide. I can't distract it and bring it away from you with my neck like this. Atleast with the blood scent the cougar will go for me first, and you have a chance," Fire said the last part quietly, but he knew it was true anyways. He didn't care, it was what he wanted. He looked around the den, and trotted to a dark corner, looking around. "come on starry," he said quietly.

Star flicked his ears at Rain. "Stay close and keep moving" he hissed at her when she stopped. He pretty much ignored what she was saying, but kept his pace with her. Star looked to Culver him or the young stallion by him hadn't smelled anything, probably cause all the blood covering Culver. The ripe smell of copper and iron could mess with your scent if there was enough blood around.
Starry looked out into the valley again she hadn't seen a cougar since she was six months and that she didn't remember very well. The scent of blood filled her nose making her almost gag. The minute she smelled the blood it was like getting ripped back in time.
Starry's mother shoved her into the bushes trying to keep her safe. She watched in horror as the bay stallion she thought was her father went down to the ground blood flowing out of him like a river. Starry's nose filled an awful scent of copper and iron from so much blood. She felt the need to run, her flight instinct kicking in. But her mother had told her to stay where she was and not to move no matter what happened. Her mother was trapped and didn't want her daughter getting killed. Just as the cougar went to attack Dancer a black blur kicked at it, the cat whirled and landed on Jackal's back, he jumped and buck like crazy and then slammed himself into the ground almost breaking the cougar back. The cat cowered as Jackal reared and kicked at it, then he slammed down at the cougar his hoof hitting it in the shoulder. Starry jumped at the sound made when the shoulder shattered and then she jumped again at the sound of the cats rib cage break. Starry watched the cat it didn't move or make a sound it just lay there dead. Dancer bowed her head in thanks to the stallion, his forelock covered all his face and his neck and shoulders were bleeding. He nodded and glanced at Starry a longing in his eyes. He reared and took off leaving them to do what they wanted, he wanted them to follow him but Dancer didn't and never would.
Starry jumped at Fire's voice he broke her out of her memory. Her eyes flamed with anger towards Fire. "There is no way I am letting you die for me. That's all anyone has done for me my entire life! Died for me like I can't take care of myself! I can its damn annoying when others think they have to protect the little daughter of the leader!" She couldn't help but snap at him. She hatted others getting hurt cause of her. She didn't follow him, she stood her ground in the middle of the cave. "I won't be afraid anymore" she muttered under her breath. She was terrified of cougar but that wasn't what she had meant. She had a fear of being left alone of her family and the ones she loved leaving her, and that's way she didn't want them protecting her anymore. She had been raised with a bunch of colts she learned to fight with them, she was as strong willed and hard headed as any stallion. And she was faster then almost any horse. She heard the scream of the cougar as it crept into the cave and came face to face with her. It lunged at her and she jerked side ways. It spun and then stopped and looked behind it. It slowly turned seeing the source of the blood scent. It started to creep towards Fire. Starry snorted and whipped her head and kicked it in the butt as hard she could but she missed part him so she only distracted him again but didn't do any damage.
Jackal slid to a stop in the valley searching for Starry and Fire....

Fire bowed his head in respect for Starry. She didn't even know. HE didn't even know she was the leader's 'precious little daughter' when he fell in love with her. HE sa wthe cougar creep in and tried to do anything, even make a noise, but he couldn't. When the cougar came to him he whinnied as loud as he could, and reared up to his full height, slamming back down to the ground before he lost his balance and fell over. He snorted and kicked out at the cougar. HE glanced at Starry quickly. "Fine, I won't die for you, but you won't for me either," he said keeping his eyes glued to the cougar after the quick glance.
Rain snorted and listened to Star. Strangely, she knew she had to. Even though she was leader of him, she had to listen. She snorted and whipped her mane. She knew he wouldn't listen. Of course he wouldn't, it was Star. But she liked him for that. Rain flicked her ear towards Culver and the colt. Culver wa stoo bloody, so most of the horses around him probably couldn't smell anything but blood.

Starry whipped her head and glared at the cougar, she couldn't be bothered to answer or look at Fire. She avoided the cougar again, this time landing a weak kick to its ribs. He screamed and rolled to its feet and rolled its shoulders slightly. It hissed and growled at Starry. Starry couldn't help the fear that was starting to tense her up and make her move slightly slower. She glanced at Fire and shook her head and glanced back to the cougar. "Didn't plan on it babe" she said to Fire, dodging another attack. She jumped out of the way again. "I'm not goin' anywhere, love." She said when she got pushed closer to him. She lunged to the side barley avoiding the claws swiping at her. "damn he can move" she muttered along with a few other cruses under her breath.
Jackal whipped his head when he heard Fire whinny. He took off at a full blown gallop. Hopping he'd get to them before it was to late....
Star felt slight satisfaction that Rain didn't argue with him about it. He wasn't gonna say sorry for being slightly rude to her, he had only done it to make sure she stayed with herd and didn't endanger herself. But he did owe her something. "I won't fight a cougar unless some one needs help." He said in a low voice. His old herd had always fought in a group they had taken down plenty of other animals they once ripped a coyote apart and a cougar another time.

Fire smiled a bit at Starry's bravery. He reared slightly and came back down, his front hooves searing into the cougar's side. He snorted and jumped sideways as the cougar tried a quick swipe at Fire. It frightened Fire for a moment, because for a split second he could see the hunger in the cougar's eyes. Hunger for blood and meat, which was exactly what he could smell on Fire. Fire quickly remembered who he was fighting with and aimed a quick little kick at the cougar. Fire smiled to himself when Starry said the things like 'babe' and 'love'. "Well you know I wouldn't, he said biting at the cougar quickly. He smiled for a split second before the cougar tried to bite him and Fire had to jump out of the way. "Yeah," Fire said with a quick nervous laugh. Fire almost thought that he heard someone or something outside the cave, but he stayed focused on Starry and the Cougar.
Rain smiled to herself. She knew it had made Star happy when she listened to him. She could tell. She smiled more. "Fine, but I have to fight to if anything happens," she said with a slight smile. She wouldn't let Star fight a cougar by himself, or at all without Rain. Rain flicked her ears to the side. She had thought she had seen Jackal go off somewhere. She wondered if he had gone off after Starry and Fire. He probably did, but probably to protect them. Rain knew that Jackal cared about Starry, no matter what anyone said. Even though he couldn't be the father she needed, he was the best father he could be, and was there when he could be. She smiled to herself, finally convincing herself that they were okay.

Starry avoided another lunge from the cougar. "Damn thing just won't quite!" She hissed threw her teeth with a million curses. She smiled when Fire kicked the cougar and it screamed in pained and rolled before it went after him again. She reared and kicked him in the butt, but again it spun away so the blow wouldn't break a bone. "Damn" she hissed avoiding another attack. "Don't get your head close to him!" She said when Fire bit at the cougar. She whirled around kicked out her back legs delivering a powerful blow to the cougar, this time she was sure she heard a crack in the cougars chest. Either way it screamed a loud painful scream that hurt Starry's ears. She couldn't help but brim with pride over the fact that she actually hit the thing. She also hadn't noticed she had been smiling the entire fight. She jumped out of the way as the cougar attacked again he didn't even come close to her and she laughed. 'Okay I am enjoying this to much' she thought to herself. She was more like her dad then everyone thought. She kicked the cougar again and avoided another pounce, witch made her laugh even more. She smirked at the cougar teasing it ever so slightly. It screamed in anger and pounced at her this time catching her shoulder with its claws, drawing three long streams of blood. "Damn." Was all she said, and then smiled again. She lunged this time giving a powerful kick and this time she knew he broke one of the cougars ribs. She was having entirely to much fun with this cause she laughed out loud when she heard the crack of bone. Jackal had stopped by the cave entrance and was watching Starry. He had to sniffle a laugh a couple of times. He also heard her use the terms, 'love' and 'babe'. He laughed slightly at those as well. 'Maybe shes more like me then I thought' he thought to himself he watched as she seemed amused by getting scratched by the cougar. He knew they would need his help soon cause he knew Starry didn't have to power to kill the cougar. Star snorted and scouted a little ways away from where Culver was, the smell of his blood was starting to turn his stomach. He smiled and nodded his head. "Cougars are best fought in groups." He said briefly. And then he smiled, "if Starry is anything like me she won't take help if she is fighting the cougar. Were not big on outside help, Dancer only took yous cause she has a herd to think about Starry doesn't. But if she has any of Jackal's qualities then she will take the help. His family was always okay with taking help from others as long they wouldn't be in Dept." He said to Rain. He knew Jackal had run ahead to help Starry, Star just wasn't sure shed take the help. (Starry is like a mix between Star and Jackal XD She talks like Jackal does )

Fire stopped. He knew it wasn't even healthy for Starry to be acting like this, and he also knew she was fine without help, for right now atleast. He glanced over at the entrance and saw Jackal standing there. Fire couldn't help trot over to him and give a small laugh. "She's as fearless as her father, isn't she?" he sais quietly. He meant to say it to himself, but he knew Jackal had heard him. Fire jumped back to help Starry before Jackal could say anything to him, and gave a powerful kick to the cougar's broken rib. It yowled in pain and anger and Fire flattened his ears to his head before he dodged another attack from the cougar. He knew they had to kill it soon, but Fire didn't have the heart to do it. "Starry, you have to kill it," he said glancing at Starry. Rain moved with Star. She nodded. 'well duh,' she thought stifling a laugh. She didn't know a single horse that could kill a cougar alone. She thought for a moment. Starry seemed alot like Star, but there was always more than meets the eye. Rain wondered how Fire and Starry were doing. And if Jackal had gotten to them now. Lightning cantered down a hill, looking around anxiously. He saw the Cactus Hill herd, the one where Jackal's family was. Lightning galloped past them, but stopped in the back. He smirked at the mare. "Hey," he said whipping his mane, being a show-off. He was supposed to be looking for Jackal, but he was sure Jackal would be fine. It was Jackal. Besides, flirting with a pretty mare was more important than Jackal in Lightning's book. (HAha okay. I decided to add Lightning)

Starry danced around the cougar with ease. She saw the look on Fire's face and rolled her eyes. "Relax, love." She said before he trotted over to Jackal. She looked back to Fire and froze. She hadn't thought about killing the poor cat, it was just hungry, she had just planed on pushing it till it ran away witch they tend to do when they are endanger. She kicked it in the head when it jumped at her. She couldn't kill it so she just kept avoiding and dodging it. She ignored Jackal for awhile but she did glance at him every once in awhile. She hatted to idea of help and she was totally stubborn.
Jackal snorted and whipped his mane at Starry's words to Fire. It was odd to him that she talked like him for the most part when she had never been around him in her life. Jackal knew Starry wasn't gonna kill the cougar and neither was Fire, now it was time for him to help them as best he could and that was by killing the cougar himself. He reared and neighed drawing the attention of the cougar to him. It went wild when it was corned. Jackal felt like hitting himself in the head, rule number one never corner a cougar or they attack like a rabid animal. He went forward and half reared and kicked with all his might smashing the cougar to the ground. The cougar was bleeding out of its head from the impact of the ground, his shoulder was now snapped cause of the kick giving' there. Jackal grabbed it by the skin on his neck and in one quick jerk they could all hear its neck snap. Jackal looked at Starry with a slight pride in his eyes. "Next time just kill it, but only if you can't get away from it." Jackal said in his deep smooth voice. "Fire be sure to find a mud hole to role in soon, it help your wounds." He said without looking at him. He looked back at the cougar and thought for a moment. There was a hill that led to the river right behind the den. "I'll move him out of here before he draws anything else in." He said to them before dragging the cougar out of the den and kicking it down the hill. He went back to them, "and now I bid my goodbyes." He said with a bow of his head and then turned and ran before anyone could speak to him.
Star sighed. They were almost to the valley when he smelled something. "Sky Mountain stallion." He murmured under his breath when he saw another stallion that looked like Jackal. He couldn't help but pin his ears slightly at the other stallion. Star was a warrior and it was in his blood to fight when another herd member got close to anything he cared about. Culver pinned his ears in battle form, and snorted. "Why are there so many Sky Mountain stallion around today?" Culver spat to himself. He looked as if he came from that herd cause of how large he was.

Lightning smirked, satisfied that he had made Star uneasy. Lightning turned back to Rain. "Wanna go for a run, a sweet thing ike you doesn't need to be with horses like these," Lightning sweet-talked, like always. Rain whipped her mane and snorted. "Like your any better than them!" She snapped. Lightning lowered his head, faking being upset. "Hey, I was only trying to get you to come with me." "And why?" Rain asked, cocking her head a little. "Because a pretty thing like you deserves a good buddy to run with," Lightning said with a smirk. Rain snorted, but couldn't think of anything to say.
Fire closed his eyes at the sound of the neck snapping. It was a sickening sound, he really would be surprised if Starry enjoyed that sound, too. Fire looked off after Jackal, kind of gratefully. He knew Jackal was right. Fire sighed and huffed before walking out the den and finding a nearby patch of mud. He sighed and rolled in the mud a few times before standing up. His once beautiful chestnut coat was now caked in mud and dirt. He shrugged it off and walked back into the den, huffing in relief.

Star snorted at Lightning. He pinned his ears and suddenly felt extremely annoyed at the fact that Lightning was talking to Rain. He chuckled at the way Rain snapped. He noticed that she was stumbled so he cut in. "Can't ya take a hint? So back off!" Star snapped his ears still pinned against his head in anger. 'Why does it matter to me? Rain can take care of herself. So why the heck am I acting like this?' He thought to himself. Culver eyed to new stallion, he knew who he was but he didn't care he wanted him gone and away from his herd. Dancer flicked her ear slightly she heard the scream of a cougar in pain and then silence. "Almost there! Stay Close!" She shouted over the herd and then added. "Sky Mountain Stallion get away from my herd!" She screamed at the top of her lunges. She was okay with the Legacy Plains herd but hatted the Sky Mountain horses, all of them. "Your herd is not welcome here!" She yelled over her shoulder so every one could hear her. Some sneered, some pinned their ears with threats hissing out of them and others got closer to the middle of the herd to hide. Her herd thought of Sky Mountain Herd as where the evil Jackal came from so they weren't to fond of them, or the Legacy Plains horses either but since their leader seemed to trust them they did too. A few more stallions spread around the herd they weren't about to leave anyone unprotected in their own herd.
Starry's stomach completely turned upside down when she heard the neck snap. It wasn't a light crack like when the rip broke, this was a loud piercing snap. She watched the cougar be pulled from the den and then off in the distance she heard her mother scream. "Somethings making my mom mad." She said looking off. "Their almost here," She jumped slightly. "Wow mom is really pissed." She said to Fire. He was covered in mud. "Soon Culver will look like you" she said with a laugh. Culver had enough wounds to get plenty of mud bath time. "Man my mom is really screaming. wait till I tell her I could hear her this far away." She said with a laugh.
Jackal flinched when he heard Dancer yell and went back to herd to see what her problem was now. He saw Lightning and decided to stay out of sight this seemed to be some promising entertainment.
