Fire ignored the burning in his face. I looked to Jackal with as big of a smile I could possibly make. "Your right. Your not as bad as your father at all," I said with a pause. "Your a million times worse," I spat at him. Fire was about to run in front of Culver, but he had signaled to him he was getting up. Fire flicked his eyes to Dancer for a split second and saw worry in her eyes. It worried Fire a bit, but he tried to ignore it. He looked to Jackal. "You know Jackal. I don't give a damn about your bloodlines. Your the one that brought that up. It doesn't matter where your from, it matters who you are. Everyone knows that. That's why everyone hates you. Your horrible. Dancer and Starry aren't. They are wonderful, and actually kind. Noone would care if they knew their bloodlines. I don't know how you know about my past, but like I said. I don't care about where I came from," I spat. "I'm just happy to know that I'm nowhere as bad and horrid, and. I can go on all day. But I don't want to waste time on someone I shouldn't be wasting a second of my life on," I spat at him. I was all talk and no action, usually. But I kept thinking about who I was doing it all for. And that gave me enough hope to turn and kick Jackal, but I still ran a little ways away so he couldn't reach me.
Rain nodded in understanding. "Well then it may be your fight then. I know Fire can't take him. I know nothing about Culver, but the herd will not leave their leader behind. If you really want to help, then help. But like I said, I am not leaving you alone to do it," I said sighing at my decision. He may not even go after Jackal now, but Rain did not mind.

Jackal reared and whipped his head in anger. He felt himself boil with rage, despite his temperament he almost never lost his temper. He reared again at the kick Fire gave him. He neighed and jumped forward delivering a quick and powerful blow to Fire's side and then he took a chunk out of his neck with his teeth. "JACKAL! STOP!" Dancer screamed to him her eyes filling with tears. She shook her head. "Jackal please" she begged but he ignored her every word. Culver lifted his head and cleared his vision. "Jackal he's.... Not your battle...." He huffed in shallow breaths but before he could say the rest he was interrupted....
Star looked to Rain and nodded. He saw Jackal attack Fire. He ran around the herd in time to hear Culver talking. "Its with me!" he shouted at the black stallion, Culver looked stunned that he was interrupted. The minute Jackal heard Star's voice he froze and turned to look at him. "Well Star isn't a surprise to see you here" he seethed. He walked back to the hill and then spotted Rain. "Oh so your in Rains herd huh. Well I wonder what she would think of your past and legacy. Same goes for Dancer's herd." he said in almost a hiss. He whipped his head and made sure he had every ones attention. He cleared his throat and looked over everyone. "Its time the truth came out about this family you call the leaders and the strong! Star is better then me! He was raised just like me! He took who he wanted when he wanted! He killed ruthlessly like me! He even helped me kill my father! But every one looks up to him and calls me awful! What about him! And Starry's dad was worse then me, how do you think he got Dancer away from me! You really think I would give that easy? Just cause she had a mate, you better think better of it. How do you think Dancer got that scar on her neck and head? Her mate did it to her! I don't care what you sat about me but I have never hurt a mare like that in my life! And Never would! But Star sure did, he was just like my father, awful and evil! What do you think of that Rain? Having some one just like me in your herd? At least I got into a herd without lying threw my teeth. And Dancer, you would still have a mate and no scars if you'd just chose me instead. But oh yeah you were raised in the same Legacy I was, the more you hatted everyone the more you were looked up too. It didn't pay off did it Dancer? This is their Legacy! No better then me, so how dare them pass judgment on me!" He yelled every word with anger all accept the words he spoke to Dancer or when he spoke of her. "My father almost killed my mother so I protected her and she hatted me! Resented me! Just for protecting her from a monster." He said them. He looked to Culver. "Every name givin' to use in that herd was a Legacy of our past. But this horse came from humans his name caries nothing to it! He has no Legacy, but I guess that's better then Star and Dancer's Legacies" he spat at them.
Star's temper boiled when Jackal addressed Rain. "Leave her out of this Jackal! Leave my sister out of it! Leave everyone out!" He yelled not denying a word Jackal said, cause it was all true. A past Star hatted and was a ashamed of but it was true he had been worse then Jackal had been. He looked over the herd waiting to see if some one was gonna say it was all a lie at least for his sister.
Dancer felt as if a knife went threw her chest, all this time and Jackal decided to give up their Legacy now. Culver looked stunned at the truth, he didn't test Jackal though, he saw it in Star and Dancer's faces every word was true...
Jackal had one Legacy to revile and it was his daughters....

(JACKAL IS FREKING STARRYS DAD ISNT HE!?! ISNT HE!?!!)
Fire snorted in pain and collapsedto the ground, but quickly pulled himself up. Fire watched in astonishment as Jackal told the herd thei leacys. He could see Rain not do a thing. He wa surprised at her, but she just nodded. Fire understood then. He listened to Star and came to stand next to Star. "It doesn't even matter anymore. You shouldn't even be living in the past, you should be moving before we all get hurt or flooded out!" Fire said, and right as he said it, lightning struck in the sky and it startyed to rain agaun, hard. "See?" He said trying to prove his point. He shrugged but winced when he did. "The only people that would be trying that are horrible people, today. Not in the past. We are never perfect," Fire said, only adding to his speech. He hung his head low because of his neck, and saw a flash of chestnut again. This time he kept his attention on it and walked over to it. It was Starry. He leaned into her, letting her know he would try and protect her. He would protect her. "I'm sorry," He whispered. He knew she had seen all of that.
Rain stood and nodded doing nothing. She especially payed attention when Fire gave his little speech. "Exactly what I was thinking!" she yelled out. "We can't help our past," she said. She wasn't going to give a speech like Fire, but that was all she had to say. It was all true.

Jackal felt anger rise in him. "I Let the past be the past years ago! That's why I'm not ashamed of mine! Its over and done with, but Star still thinks he has to lie about it!" He yelled over them. He was going to make this blow even harder to Dancer with every word he spoke. "If their different now then why do they lie? I know why Star does, its cause he is trying to lie to himself about all the stuff he did!" He yelled and then taking on a nicer tone he looked to Dancer. "But her lies are not for her they are all for her daughter. Not one word Starry has heard in her life is true." He said a voice as calm as one could be.
Starry nodded to Fire but kept her mouth shut. Starry was basically fearless but not when she was around Jackal when she was around him she was scared out of her mind. She couldn't take it anymore and burst out. "How dare you speak about my mother like that!" She screamed at Jackal.
Jackal ignored Starry as if she wasn't there. He knew she had been there the entire time that's what he was counting on. "Dancer why don't you try telling her your daughter the truth?" He asked her. When she didn't speak he went on. "Starry was lied to her entire life! Sure Dancer's mate may have scared her but Starry's father never hurt Dancer!" He yelled, he wondered who would take this harder then the other ones. "Starry does carry the same legacy as Star and Dancer! But a little bitty detail Dancer left out, was that Starry's father wasn't killed by a cougar!" He yelled loud enough for every one to hear. "Oh sure the one that died was Dancer's mate not the father of her filly." He said. Dancer dropped her head in sham. He looked to Fire, "you see I am no forcer I despise them." He said with a smirk. He looked over the herd, "I never wanted Starry for mate! I wanted my heir back! I wanted what was mine! I wanted my daughter!" He yelled but not to the herd, this was all directed at Dancer. "You kept my own daughter from me! You lied to your mate! You were already his, when Starry was made! Tell me Dancer was it a lie that kept you alive? No it was me, I told if he ever hurt you again I would kill him and even after the herd was trapped and separated, he knew I was always watching him. You could have left him for me! I would never have let him hurt you!" He yelled her, years of anger and hurt pouring out of him. He looked to Rain, "yes we can, we can let it go and live the truth, I helped my past every day until Dancer got into this herd, she was my past. And I will never let her go!" He said rearing into the sky and whipping his head. Starry couldn't breath, she looked at her mother. "How could you? How could you lie to me all these years?! Did you even think once to tell me the truth?" She yelled at her mother. Dancer nodded, "I thought about it all the time, I'm so sorry Starry." She whispered. As much as she was trying Starry couldn't hate her mother.
Star reared high and slammed his hooves to the ground hard. "How could you! And with him! Night was good to you!" He yelled in disgust at his sister. "Damn it Star! How blind were you all those years? Night gave me these scars he hurt me in ways I can't heal from! You never once protected me! It was always Jackal as much as I hate to admit it, it was always him he was always there for me and for Starry when she was little. He saved her life and mine Night was going to kill me when he found out I was having a foal! So Star I don't care if your different now, the point is you weren't there for me when I really needed you." She said. She looked to Jackal, "I'm sorry if you think I have done you some kind of wrong but she is my daughter you can't have her. And you have to have to let me go Jackal, I made that very clear years ago" she said to him in a voice stronger then any she had ever said before. Jackal whipped his mane, "you did do me wrong! You made my daughter scared of me! Did you tell her I was the one that saved you from that cougar!" He screamed at her. Dancer could feel the tears raising in her eyes. She could tell Star was about to lose it and become the old Star again.

The white's of Rain's eyes were now showing. It may not have anything to do with her anymore, but she could tell it was about to get out of hand. She slowly cantered up to Jackal and Dancer. "You two have to make some sort of agreement, right here and right now. This is getting out of hand," She said two of them trying to act calm. She walked to star deciding she would try tp calm him down. She knew he would be hard to convince now though. "Star, I know Dancer lied. You have to forget it though. It happened years ago and now we know Jackal may not be as bad as we thought. We just have to let it go," Rain said trying to act calm, but she knew the expression in her eyes were desperate.
Fire looked sorrowfully to Starry, but lowered his head, the pain coming back. He stepped forward to Jackal but didn't even look at him. "If you care about your daughter so much then why do you hurt the people who only love and care about her? We are trying to protect her. Same as you if you really cared," Fire said meaning no offense towards Jackal. He really didn't give a damn though. It was so overwhelming, even for Fire. And it had nothing to do with him. It reminded him why he was a loner. The only herd he would ever join is whichever herd Starry was in. Fire sighed and walked back to Starry, hanging his head low trying to ignore the pain in his neck. "Don't be mad at your mother, please. I know I can't change your mind, but she was only trying to protect you, emptionally," Fire said looking from Starry to Dancer.

Jackal ignored Rain. No matter what anyone thought he would never hurt Dancer even if she attacked him. He glanced to Rain once, "this doesn't concern you" he hissed at her. Dancer looked to Rain, "there is nothing to agree on, he is never getting close to my daughter. I want everything from my past to be gone forever" she said calmly. Jackal grinned at Dancer, "hate to inform you of this but darlin' Starry is your past" he said with a soft smile to her. He wasn't wrong Starry was a constant reminder of her past but she loved her and would never let anyone from her past come into her life. Starry looked to her mother and shook her head. "It isn't up to you anymore mother." She just as calmly as her mother had spoken. Jackal looked to Fire. "Cause they tired to keep me away from her! I knew Culver wasn't good enough for her either, hes a pure bred from humans. He just wasn't good enough for her. But then she found you, how do you think I know so much about and why I didn't kill right off the bat. But from here out you better watch your mouth cause the next time I am compared to anyone in my old herd I will kill without thinking." He calmly. He looked at Star, he wondered when Star stopped being on his side. There was secret that he wouldn't revile. And that was that Star and Dancer were only related by their mother. Jackal had no blood ties to Dancer but he defiantly had them to Star. Star glared at Jackal with a flame in his eye that looked as if it could catch him on fire. He looked to Rain, "theres no way you could even begin to understand, me and Jackals pasts." He said to her in a low voice. The anger in his eyes was gone but only replaced with regret and sorrow. "I helped Jackal kill our father. You can't come back from that no matter hard you try" He said shacking his head. He had said so that only Rain could hear. Starry shook her head at Fire. "I don't care what anyone does but I'm leaving and no one is gonna stop me! I am not gonna die here today!" She yelled taking off toward their safe valley. The herd became restless but stood strong and proud next to their leader. Jackal nodded impressed by how loyal they all were to her. "Until next time" he said bowing his head slightly in respect for her. He looked to Fire, "take good care of her of else" He said whipping his head at Fire. There was no way he would ever let his daughter be treated like her mother or his mother for the matter. b (Bred without being their mate) m (Mate) d (Died)

(I had to read it 3 times over but I get it now)
Fire was a little confused at first, but then he felt a little pride. Starry's heartless father actually thought he was good enough for Starry. Fire looked sorrowfully after Starry. HE gave a last look at Jackal and the rest of the horses, and then back to Jackal. HE gave a quick nod to Jackal and took off at a full gallop after Starry. "Starry!" He called, wanting to stop because of his neck. HE had to hold it up to look for her, but it hurt like hell. He stopped a second. She was going back to the valley. He turned and ran at a gallop, taking a short cut to the valley. After a few minutes he was back the the valley. His sides were heaving and he plopped to the ground and lowered his head, waiting for Starry.
Rain snorted at Jackal and whipped her tail but decided to ignore him. She glared at him as he ran off, and then turned to Star. "That was who you killed.... That was your old leader, wasn't it?" She asked, her eyes filled with worry and sorrow. He wouldn't have a problem ever killing Rain if he could kill his own father. But Rain stood there. She knew she did have something fo Star, and it forced her to stay. She plopped down onto the ground and sighed. She had two herds to help tonight. Buzz would need help after awhile in this storm, but Rain had to help this herd first.
Cloud looked sorrowfully after the horse that felt like her daughter. It hurt her to see Starry run away, and she knew it probably hurt Dancer more. Cloud sighed and gathered up the foals. "Don't listen to a thing those horses say," She soothed nudging them all close to her.

(yeah I almost confused myself while making it!!! haha)
Starry heard Fire call but ignored him. She ran till she huffing and puffing, she looked around the valley where they would be spending their winter. She saw Fire and raised her eyebrows and trotted over to him. "Fire what on earth are you doing here? Why the hell did you risk getting even more hurt then you already are?" She pracally cursed at him.
Star felt prickles run down his spine. "I killed him for the same reason Jackal did. My mother was basically forced to have me" he almost choked out the words. "I am younger then all my sisters but none of them new the truth not even my mothers mate. The one I thought of as my father." He said his voice filling with sadness, "he always wanted me to be good but I refused I had always been the center of Jackal's fathers attention. He was always so proud of me but not Jackal, and that always made me happy in some way. But after I found out what had happened to my mother, I let Jackal convince me to kill him. And I did without thinking, it was for my mother and the sick thing is Jackal's father was proud of us for what we did" he sighed "He told Jackal he was finally the son he had always wanted him to be" Star said sadly. "Jackal was never right after that moment. And then when I kept Dancer away from him, it pushed him farther into the way he is." Star said, he smiled at Rain. "Thanks for not running away, every one else does" he said to her quietly.
Jackal nodded to Dancer. "See ya round, love" he said to her. "Don't" she said taking a step back. It always made her want to go with him when he talked sweet to her. Jackal smiled and turned and ran off back to his herd. Dancer regained herself. "MOVE OUT!" She yelled in a harsh voice. She was not in the mood to hear any more talking.

Rain smiled to Star. "I couldn't leave you, even if I wanted to. Your the strongest member of my heard," She joked, laughing slightly. She jumped when Dancer yelled, but turned to look at the herd anyways. She waited next to Star until she could fall behind the rest of the herd.
Fire sighed happily when he saw Starry. He got up to his feet and winced a little at the pain, but ignored it as much as he could. "Because you're her," he said with a slight smile. He sighed and looked down for a second. "Your father would kill me if something happened to you anyways. Well, if he could kill me before I killed myself," he said glancing at the ground again. He didn't like mentioning Jackal, especially after what had just happened.
Cloud jumped with a start, and so did some of the foals. She calmed them down and calmly led them after the members of the herd up front, and in front of the members in the back. She looked up to Dancer. If she didn't have to watch the foals, she would be trying to calm her down right now, but she had to watch the foals anyways. Dancer had noone. Cloud didn't think Starry needed Dancer, she thought it was the other way around. Dancer had noone without Starry and Cloud. Secretly Cloud thought Starry and the herd were the only things keeping her from going with Jackal.

Star smiled and tilted his head to the side. He laughed and nodded his head to her. He chuckled when she jumped at his sister, "that's how she used to be all the time." He said shacking his head, "it wasn't just the stallions that could be evil in my herd plenty of mares were that way too" he said nodding his head. And falling in behind the herd.
Starry shook her head in anger. She softened and smiled at his answer and then flattened her ears and whipped her head. "Hes not my father! And it doesn't matter what him or my mother wants!" She yelled she was over flowing with rage and at the moment she thought she could possibly hit Fire if she got pushed far enough. "Get in the den at least there you'll be dry." She said to Fire.
Dancer cursed under her breath for a while, murmuring about Star, Starry, Fire, Culver, Rain, Cloud and the rest of the herd, but most of all Jackal. "The nerve of him judging me. Ugh Starry better be at the valley cause I have a lot of yelling to do at her. Brave for his size, I think he will be good for her. Culver needs to go slow and get his wounds cleaned soon. At least Star has some one who stand by him for now, probably just until she learns all his dirty little secrets. Cloud is the only one I don't feel like killing right now. The herd is lacking and is annoyingly jumpy." She spat of the words and spook smooth for others but it was all under her breath. "I can't believe Jackal can get to me just by calling me love, he is so arrogant so sure of himself, so infuriating, but I can't let go of our past. Man my life is so screwed up" she murmured under her breath again.

Fire smiled at Starry, even though she was mad at him. "Only if you come with me," he said, but he still trotted into the den anyways. He layed down and rested his head on the ground. It felt better there, atleast his muscles in his neck weren't so tense anymore. Fire felt even worse about mentioning Jackal now. He just ignored it though.
Rain shook her head. "Well she's better now, right?" Rain asked with a nervous smile. Rain shook her head again. There was alot on her mind, and she didn't feel all too comfortable being away from her herd when Jackal was out for revenge, but she had to help a neighborimg herd. Buzz and the others would be fine anyways, Jackal was an ass, but he wasn't stupid. Though most were way weaker than Jackal, they could defeat him with their number. Rain shook her head once again, trying to stop thinking about it. Rain wondered for a moment. She was worried by Jackal's little revealation about Star, but now she felt better about it. If he was really that bad then Rain just talking to him probably wouldn't have calmed him down as much as it had. Or maybe it was just Rain. Rain shook her head once again. "so much on my mind..."she mumbled.
(soory, shortish reply, in a hurry)

(its fine)
Starry snorted and whipped her head. "Fine" she muttered under her breath, she scowled but followed him to the den anyway. She swished her tail and bucked a few times while heading towards the den. She had gotten most of her anger out by the time she finally calmed down and was in the den. She didn't lay down, she was to antsy and upset, she pranced around the den a little and passed around muttering to herself.
Star whipped his head and laughed. "Yeah she is, its just when you come from a herd like ours you can't let your temper get away from you cause it sends you back into your past" he said shacking his head. "And when you want to stay out your past makes it even worse, but as long as Jackal stays away from my sister and me, we should be able to keep our pasts where they belong in the past. You see with our herd your legacy and bloodline were the most important thing." Star explained to Rain. He watched her for a while she looked like she was thinking about a lot of things. 'hope she isn't considering throwing me out of her herd after all' he thought to himself. He chuckled lightly, "nothing bad I hope" he said to her.
Culver leaned ageist one of the other stallions who had always been a friend to him. They were pretty close to Star and Rain. "Can you believe it? I never even knew Dancer had such a past." The stallion muttered to Culver. Culver snorted "just shut up about it okay? Dancer's a good and kind leader, so just forget about everything that happened here today." Culver snapped at the young stallion.

Fire forwned and watched her pace around the den. He didn't like seeing her upset, but he understood. He was upset too, but it wasn't like he could focus on that with a chunk out of his neck missing. He was still a little proud though, because Jackal thought he was worthy enough to be Starry's mate. He was proud, but really it didn't matter to him because it was Jackal that had said it. But he was also Starry's father, so it also kind of did matter.
Rain whipped her head. " Well I don't care about the past anymore. It's who the horse is now," Rain said with a little more truth behind it then Star would know. She really didn't care what Jackal had said anymore, it was the past. This is Star now. She looked to Star with a nervous smile. "Not really. I'm just happy things are kind of sorta okay right now," Rain said. She felt a little guilty. HE was so worried he wouldn't be accepted into the herd, so he had to have been thinking Rain would kick him out. Yeah right. She really couldn't, even if she wanted to. Something kept her from ever wanting to kick him out. Rain flicked her ear towards Culver and another stallion. She heard a bit of what the stallion said, and if Culver hadn't shut him up then Rain probably would have. She respected other leaders more than she probably should, and it angered her when horses said something bad about their own leader. Her ears were pinned back a little, and she didn't even realize she was still glaring at the stallion.

Starry finally calmed down enough to stop moving around the den like a caged tiger. She flicked her ear towards Fire. And she turned her attention back to her thoughts witch made her curse under her breath. She stopped and looked to Fire, he looked tired and hurt badly she hatted seeing that chunk in his neck bleeding like that. She knew Jackal had done it, she also knew he had said Fire was worthy of her, she wasn't sure what he had meant by that. In Jackal's old herd meanness had been looked upon as being a better mate. But Jackal was had said it cause Fire just didn't stop running his mouth. And he hadn't backed down when Jackal lost his temper. Starry calmed down and walked closer to Fire and dropped her head over the unhurt part of his neck. She was still standing when she actually drifted off.
Star nodded to Rain he really couldn't really think of anything to say. He flicked his ear at the young stallion Culver was talking with, Culver seemed like he was on a very short temper tonight.
The young stallion glanced at Culver. "Whats your problem? You didn't wait to see if I was insulting her or not witch I wasn't! Dancer's been the herd leader since I was born, I trust her with my life. I Just didn't know she had such a bad past behind her" He said. He was only about two years old a year younger then Starry was. His mother had died when he was born and Dancer had helped his father take care of him. Starry was like a sister to him. "You know I would have helped you fight if you'd let me" He said a little grumpy. Culver had only let Fire help cause fire was interested in Starry. This colt wasn't and he had never stood toe to toe with Jackal before. "Just shut up about everything okay? Dancer hears you bring up that stallion and she'll have your head, so just shut your mouth and stay quiet" Culver said. He was almost ready to drop right there and sleep.

Fire smiled happily and looked up at Starry when she came up to him. He was happy and as soon as he heard the rythmic sound of her breathing and he knew she was safe and okay, he soon fell asleep to, still laying on the ground.
Rain's ears pricked forward again and she looked to Star. "If Dancer heard him I wonder what would have happened," rain said quietly to herself. Rain felt a little annoyance at Culver and the young stallion's conversation, so she dropped back a few more feet away from the herd, but still walked behind them. She let out a big sigh, realizing she was holding her breath. She must have been even more stressed then she thought.
Cloud could now even hear the young stallion and Culver. She looked back curiously to them. She could tell Culver was tired, and she knew he was getting easily annoyed right now. The colt was just digging his own grave. Cloud snorted nd urged the foals along when she realized that they to had stopped. "Stop eavesdropping, it doesn't concen any of you," Cloud said good-naturedly.
